At a global scale, the advancements of technology have allowed for its increased daily use, subsequently creating barriers between us and our experiences. The meaning of our experiences is lost as the virtual realms created by technology approximate and simulate actual experience. The issue pertinent to this fact is that, though these experiences share similarities to real life, they lack the clarity and detail of real, actual occurences.

Sensum is a museum dedicated to the study of human perception and consciousness created in response to society’s growing fixation with technology and the digitalisation of the global landscape. The scheme aims to explore natural phenomena pertinent to Barangaroo but also human perception and consciousness through the implementation of processes sensitive to the public’s interference and to the exterior environment’s variable conditions. Sensum aims to provide a setting through which visitors can understand the world around them and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
