Embedded Heritage reclaims and transforms a former industrial site into a recreational park. The chosen site is located in north-eastern Eveleigh, next to Redfern station and the Carriage Workshop. It was previously part of the Eveleigh Rail Yard, which has significant heritage value in Sydney Railway history. It has been closed to the public for many years.
Embedded Heritage enhances the understanding and appreciation of the Rail Yards, through providing physical and visual access to heritage. Flexible public open space will allow for multiple recreational activities, attract more people and provide space for events and exhibitions. Moreover, the flexible open space will also create stronger pedestrian connectivity, and help to achieve a sustainable urban life.
